Carl Thigpen is Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of Protective Life Corporation, a post he has held since May 2007. He is also President of Protective Investment Advisors, Inc. Mr. Thigpen joined Protective in 1984. He served as Senior Vice President, Investments from March 2001 to January 2002, when he was promoted to Chief Mortgage and Real Estate Officer, a position he held until becoming the Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer in May 2007.
Mr. Thigpen serves on the boards of Media General, Inc. and the Parkinson’s Association of Alabama, and on the Salvation Army Advisory Board. He also serves on the endowment boards of McWane Science Center and the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.
Mr. Thigpen earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University and a Master of Business Administration from Samford University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
